There Are No Horseshoes in Heaven exposes the passé ways of thinking that have impacted our horses. This book examines horses’ natural way of being and shows how small changes in our husbandry can yield big results. It calls us to apply the philosophy of empowerment with a healthy dose of curiosity and move forward into interesting new times.

“A beautifully-written true story of a kindred spirit’s journey through life, discovering ways to leave the world a better place for horses and people, too.” — Monty Roberts

“Carole and I share a deeply rooted passion for horses and their welfare. I applaud her ground-breaking research and her courage to think for herself and to follow her heart. This is a compelling read with pertinent thought-provoking insights.” — Julie Goodnight

“This lovely book is a must read. It’s all about never ending improvement – not only for the sake of our four-legged partners, but for ourselves!” — Pat Parelli

“Carole catapults herself into the ranks of those truly great writers who also happen to love horses…a testimony from the heart and the most scrumptious use of words and language I’ve read in a while. Filled with valuable lessons about horses and life. You will not be able to put it down.” — Joe Camp

As a Member of the Board of Directors for the Tahoe Rim Trail Association (a 165+ mile trail, consisting of eight segments that encircle Lake Tahoe), I am frequently consulted for advice on riding the Trail by horseback. Having only hiked the entire Rim Trail by foot, I have made it my mission to ride it and have chosen to do it on my Kentucky Mountain Spotted Saddle Horse, F&R's Pony Girl. My girl Pony and I began this project last year and have now completed all but two of the segments.

The longest segment of the Tahoe Rim Trail is a 33-mile stretch that runs from the Echo Lakes to Barker Pass, and it is by far the rockiest segment of the eight. Pony and I completed this segment last year in 2 ½ days. We started out this 33-mile segment in a pair of two-year old Cavallo boots. My friends, well . . . they rode that segment in newer Easyboots, which ended up not being so easy. While my friends had difficulties getting their boots on their horses, Pony and I stood and patiently waited. While my friends had difficulties getting their boots to stay on their horses and had to stop to put them back on, Pony and I would take a break and patiently wait. When my friends had to tighten wires and replace lost screws, Pony and I waited. Pony and I walked right through piles and miles of rocks, lakes, streams, boggy meadows, mud and some pretty rugged terrain and never missed a step (or a boot for that matter).

Pony and I have now just finished up another season of riding in those exact same boots (for a total of four years), and I know we are gonna just keep on going. With only two more segments to complete the Rim Trail, Pony and I will not only have made then entire 165+ miles in just one set of (used) Cavallo boots, but we will have ridden lots and lots of other trail miles in those same boots. Pony and I want to thank Cavallo for making such a reliable, easy-to-use and enduring product.

Cavallo Sport boots did not come off! Tuesday (Aug 12, 2014) I went on a trail ride with my Rocky Mtn horse (Harley) wearing his front Cavallo Sport boots, which had 20+ miles on them at this point. We had received 3-4 inches of rain in the 3 days prior so the terrain was VERY muddy. We crossed many muddy areas where they sunk almost to their knees. At the worst point of the ride, we encountered a large tree that completely blocked the trail. The only way we could find to get around without turning around and backtracking for a couple of hours was to dismount and walk the horses through a soft grassy area into a Rhododendron patch and back across another soft grassy area. My horse, Harley, and I went through first. Unfortunately the grassy areas turned out to be muddy bogs. The first area Harley sunk up to his knees. The second area Harley sunk in almost to his belly. Thankfully he managed to get through on his own. And amazingly his Cavallo boots stayed on!! In fact, his boots stayed on the entire ride. There was only one time I dismounted to refasten the strap on each boot that had come undone after crossing mud. I wanted you to know how well these boots have been working in very difficult situations.
