In late 2023 we met our goal of donating 1000 pairs of boots worldwide to help horses in need…and we’re not slowing down! When you buy Cavallo Hoof Boots, you participate in this contribution to the well-being of people and horses!

At Cavallo, we assist horses by providing comfort and protection. We serve rescues, therapy organizations and horse owners by alleviating equines of the pain of lameness. It’s why we deserve to be here as founding pioneers, leading the hoof care movement. We help with educational initiatives, scientific research, behaviour and wellness studies, disaster relief funds, and emotional support for seniors, sick children, and PTSD and abuse victims. We support keeping the horse and human bond intact through riding associations, riding groups and training programs.

Patrick The Pony, first and foremost, is a therapy pony who works visiting hospice patients, sick children and adults in hospital, seniors and others in need of wonderful company! Patrick mainly works around Devon, UK and in recent years he also provides support to his community as the elected Mayor of Cockington. Patrick’s sweet, gentle characteristics help many to feel positive and calm during very difficult times. 

Honey’s Mini Therapy Adventures

Their purpose is to use miniature horses to enhance quality of life. Individuals of all ages and limitations with physical, cognitive, emotional and behavioral disabilities find comfort, empowerment, self-esteem, unconditional love, strength, and therapeutic interaction while working with mini horses. They also train and provide minis as service animals to persons with disabilities, and work to educate the general public on the mental health benefits of visiting mini horse therapy.

Cavallo is proud to donate to ongoing equestrian events that raise funds to support St. Jude. The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures and means of prevention for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of their founder, Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion, or a family’s ability to pay.

Tenerife Horse Rescue – Spain

Tenerife Horse Rescue is a community-focused horse and animal sanctuary in Tenerife, Spain. They aim to offer homes to all equines who need a second chance. Horses are their main focus, but they don’t stop here. Their animal sanctuary has a huge array of abandoned animals, all rescued from the island. A sustainably run operation, all electricity is solar, water system pipes are heated using horse manure, all food waste becomes compost and buildings are entirely made from recycled materials and clay.

We’re proud that HOP trusts us to send boots to help their recovering equines. The Heart of Phoenix mission is to save the horses of Appalachia through collaboration, education, and the provision of equine resources. They work throughout much of Appalachia as a united group of individuals, volunteers, and partners improving the outlook for horses of all breeds and backgrounds (empowering horse owners, too!). With nearly 1,000 equine lives saved thus far, they are succeeding. What an organization!

The MLHR mission is to save as many animals as they can, to educate the humans who own them and to work with law enforcement agencies, animal welfare bodies and members of the public to achieve this. Matt Perella, a former Marine who has struggled with PTSD, is still alive today thanks to his service dog and his horse. The three of them now work hard to help veterans in need. Perella, his buckskin quarter horse Buck and his service dog Raffe, recently finished an epic horseback ride across America as “The Three Amigos” to raise awareness and funds to benefit U.S. veterans.

U.S. horses shipped across the borders to Mexico & Canada daily; their meat used for human consumption. This is a demise fraught with intense terror and abuse during transport. Gerda’s primarily rescues horses from auction as their lives are in imminent danger, and Cavallo Boots help the ones struggling with painful hoof issues. They save the ones we can; giving them a chance to live out their lives, happy and loved.

The Hollywood Hill Saddle Club is a volunteer-run public park located in Woodinville, Washington. This riding club is all about community, and they offer many disciplines for all riders. Any age and any experience level are welcome! They learn, compete, and ride together.

PATH Intl. celebrates ability, optimism, diversity and a shared love of equines.

For Andy Robinson, a big part of his job at the Weald & Downland Living Museum is working the draft horses on the farm and around the Museum site. They farm the land as much as possible, using traditional methods to represent how rural communities in the past would have worked. The historical period they cover at the Museum means tractors were only just in their infancy, so they rely on horses and horse-drawn mechanisms, just as our ancestors did. Cavallo donates BFB Boots & Buckle Straps to Andy, to assist his horses when needed.

We are honoured to support this cause. On 18 November 2013, 17-year-old Emily’s parents’ world fell apart when their daughter lost her battle with depression and ended her own life. They had to figure out how to live without her and decided that they needed to pick themselves up off their knees and honour Emily’s memory by helping other adolescents who struggle with mental unwellness. Since 2016, Emily’s Memorial has raised substantial funds for child, adolescent, and family mental health programs, their equine therapy program, and other much-needed initiatives.

In the United States, countless unwanted, abandoned, and sick horses end up in kill pens until they’re shipped to slaughter in Mexico. Sadly, these horses face a grim end, enduring abuse and starvation along the way before being cruelly killed. Border Horse’s mission is to save these horses from slaughter, provide them with medical care and rehabilitation and find them a forever home. They are able to do this with support given from their Border Horse friends and supporters.

They suffer from chronic ailments such as osteoarthritis, lymphedema, organ failure, and the most common…emotional trauma. The HHHH mission is to give them peace by fixing their external AND internal scars. They are also beginning to offer equine therapy to people suffering from emotional trauma and mental disabilities.

The director, Nancy Nunke, is considered the United State’s pre-eminent wild equid trainer and a bonafide “Zebra Whisperer.” Hearts & Hands Animal Rescue takes in much more than zebras – they have rescued horses, mini horses, camelids, birds, zorses, a zonkey, goats and other species that have been abandoned, abused, injured or neglected.

Utilizing various therapeutic modalities including Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy, their on-staff licensed therapists provide intensive therapy and counselling services. Peaceful Pastures Ranch promotes healing together by creating partnerships instead of patients.

 

British Columbia SPCA

The SPCA’s mission is to protect and enhance the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in BC. We first got involved with them when Cavallo CEO, Greg Giles, contacted them to help after reading about a farm where dozens of severely neglected miniature horses were seized – many suffering from serious hoof ailments. We are pleased to report that all of these minis have found loving homes, and are on the road to recovery.

Freedom’s Gate Equine Rescue

Freedom’s Gate Equine Rescue was born as a result of the enormous amount of horses that are abused and/or sent to slaughter for human consumption every year.  Our founders have so much compassion for these animals that they couldn’t stand by and let it continue without trying to help in any way possible. Thus, Freedom’s Gate was founded: an equine rescue where horses can come to decompress, get the health care and rehabilitation they need, receive handling and training, and eventually get paired up with their forever family!

Cavallo Gives to Rowley Ranch

Rowley Ranch gives horses a second chance. They specialize in the retirement, retraining, and re-homing of horses. At Rowley, they treat every horse as though they were their own, no matter the size or breed.  They frequently get horses coming in that have hoof issues that need to be addressed, and this is where the need for Cavallo Boots come in.  Rowley Ranch is a sprawling 30 Acre privately owned facility in Marion, IL, with manicured pastures, barn, and plenty of options for individualized care.

Monty Roberts: The Movement

One of the most accomplished horsemen on the planet, Monty Roberts could now, in his later years, be resting on his laurels — but that’s not his style. In his spare time, he hosts a very meaningful, yearly event called “The Movement”. This transformative two-day journey helps attendees discover the unique power of horses to find mindfulness, to learn and apply non-violent forms of communication and leadership and to help humans and horses live better lives. Cavallo proudly supports this worthwhile event.

Red Feather Equine rescues equines from situations that are abusive, endangering and neglectful. These situations include livestock auctions, law enforcement & animal control agency rescues, unclaimed strays, owner surrenders in dire situations and irresponsible breeding. They also work to inform the public of these situations to put a stop to animal abuse and irresponsible breeding.

Ruth Altman is a veterinarian who grew up riding horses and learning about their care. At the height of the Covid pandemic, Dr Altman’s dream of owning an Andalusian became possible, when Cito, a six year old, became available for adoption. He had been rehomed four times, was green broke, and Dr. Altman was thrilled with the opportunity to open her home as a safe haven for this beautiful animal. And the rest is history – Cito’s Rescue was born! She incorporated Cito’s Rescue as a non-profit to continue providing any and all assistance possible to these beautiful and spiritual animals.

Humanity for Horses is a non-profit organization located on Vancouver Island, BC Canada. They have rescued over 630 horses from slaughter since 2015. They currently have many horses available for adoption and some who are permanent residents of the rescue, due to health or age. HFHF aims to save, protect and improve the lives of horses in BC.

In 2004, Bear Valley Rescue in Alberta became involved in rescue when they learned about PMU (Pregnant Mare’s Urine) farms. The PMU industry started with the advent of hormone replacement therapy for women. These farms bred mares to collect their urine during pregnancy. A downturn in the industry occurred due to concerns about cancer in women taking PMU drugs, and Bear Valley started buying pregnant mares that were being culled. The rest is history. The rescue now has about 150 horses in care and has found wonderful homes for many more.

Elite Equine Rescue in Colorado provides rehab, re-homing and aftercare to equine athletes who no longer served their previous life and were in jeopardy of being discarded, neglected or even abused. EER evaluates training/skill level and personality traits to determine the long-term care needs of each horse. Then, they pair each horse with an individual that matches their needs. EER is unique in that it’s one of the very few rescues in the USA qualified to provide supportive veterinary care and rehab therapy modalities.

For Spirit Winds Ranch, the concept of the ranch is facilitating connection between the ranch horses and the ranch visitors from the ground, as a non-riding facility. The facility offers youth programs built on equine-assisted learning and facilitated equine experiential learning. Laurel, the Founder of SWR was so moved by the suicides of several teenagers in their town a few years ago that she decided it was time to heal the hurt in youth and help them connect with the 1,200-pound animals the way nature intended.

At Mending Arrow Ranch, the goal is to provide a safe haven for their students. Each child has to deal with their own set of unique challenges. Mending Arrow gives these children a way to experience healing and personal growth through interactions with horses. The ranch serves special needs, disadvantaged and at-risk youth. The only true prerequisite is that kids WANT to participate. A desire to be at the ranch is an indication of a heart willing to try. It is from this willingness that broken hearts and lives can be led toward mending.

Wild Hearts is a registered charity providing aftercare for retiring thoroughbred racehorses in BC, Canada. This includes rehabilitating, retraining & finding suitable, forever homes for racehorses coming off the track. Wild Hearts works directly with concerned and caring owners when their horses are retiring. Horses accepted into the program experience a peaceful transition with friends, freedom, & space to roam and forage while they begin re-training under saddle to prep for their new homes and next adventures.

Annie’s Therapeutic Companions is a Pet Partners-registered animal therapy team in Dublin, Texas. The organization is run by volunteers who own and train their own animals and serve the public with them. Annie’s teams are extensively trained and have special certification in Animal Assisted Crisis Response. They are on call 24/7 to support to first responders, schools, hospitals, and communities in times of crisis.

AERO is a small 501c3 non-profit with a BIG impact on its community through its all-volunteer services. They provide rescue and rehabilitation of law enforcement equine rescue cases, assist horse owners in distress, provide emergency response animal technical rescue, and provide community education, and at-risk youth programs since 2001.

And, well, here she is! Dreams do come true.

The B.C. Competitive Trail Riders Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and improving the rapidly growing sport of Competitive Trail Riding in B.C. It is patterned after NATRC (North American Trail Riding Conference) and operates in conjunction with CaLDRA (Canadian Long Distance Riding Association).

Hasty’s Haven Horse Rescue

The folks at Hasty’s Haven in Liberty, SC, work hard to make sure each horse is given the proper care, nourishment and love they need. Equine welfare is their primary concern and their mission is to take in as many nurse mare foals as they can, in order to find them loving homes and save them from a tragic end. At Hasty’s, they feel that horses give us their heart and soul and to disregard or dispose of these beautiful creatures is a violation of that horse as a living being, as well as a violation of our ethical and moral compass.

At Project ComeBack, they have set out on a mission to help heal rescue horses and humans. They currently operate out of two locations in Holliston, MA, and Timmonsville, SC.

They find that, through sharing the horse’s story, a person can connect with parts of it, and start to draw parallels to their own healing process. The variety of traumas horses are healing from connect with a variety of lived experiences of the people who come out to help them.

Greener Pastures – BC Standardbred Horse Adoption Society 

Greener Pastures in Surrey, BC,  is a non-profit organization founded in 2003. Their goal is to find long term, forever homes for retired racehorses. The Standardbred is an ideal recreational horse with a calm disposition, sensible mind and a friendly outlook! These are the attributes that have enabled Greener Pastures to adopt out over 50 horses per year. 

Circle F Horse Rescue

Circle F Horse Rescue in Abbotsford, British Columbia, has been rescuing, rehoming, and rehabilitating horses for more than 20 years. They believe that all horses deserve to live happily and peacefully.

Liberated Horsemanship

Liberated Horsemanship is a growing group of selected experts dedicated to helping people and horses by providing multi-disciplinary, science-based information about the care and use of horses through a variety of mechanisms and services.

Many of these horses are in pain and have existing pain & lameness issues, and we donated boots to help to provide comfort while these horses heal.
